Re:   Rider to Rider support program

I’d like to introduce you to RiderToRider.com, a way for BMW club members to provide assistance directly to another rider injured in a motorcycle accident.  The service can be used to help a member of your club, or your club can use it to help members of other clubs.

RiderToRider.com was started after (Dancin') Dave Cwi suffered a head-on collision with a driver in a stolen car. While he had adequate insurance, Dave saw what an accident could mean to a rider who did not.

How did I get involved? Last summer during the BMW MOA Rally, a member of my club had a serious accident. He had no insurance, and lost his job.  We are using Rider To Rider to support our friend as he struggles with the devastating physical and financial effects of his accident.

Here’s how you can use RiderToRider.com to help your club to support your riders in need:

... Use instructions at the RiderToRider web site to create a page on your Club website to collect                 donations.  [RiderToRider will then link others to that collections page.]

... Reach a large community of registered contributors and riders interested in helping your club rider in            need – a community which you help build by calling attention to the program to your own members.

... And RiderToRider will publicize your club’s efforts through announcements to the internet BMW          community

Some key points: RiderToRider does NOT collect money or disburse it.  Volunteers run this grass roots effort, and the procedures recommended on the web site are designed to assure honesty and security so that riders can be comfortable supporting your efforts.

Please help me spread the word about RiderToRider.com:

1.      Visit RiderToRider.com and read the "how to" should your club ever need to help a rider.

2.      Publicize the program via your club’s newsletter, e-mail list and web site, and encourage members to register to be notified when Clubs reach out and help one of their members.

3.      Please send us the e-mail address of your Club secretary, newsletter editor and/or webmaster so we can notify them when another Club needs to reach them about one of their members in need. email:  gander5582@aol.com

4.      When you learn that a Club is trying to help, please let us know so we can link to them and get the word out.

Thank you your time and your support. I hope you and your club members take the time to visit the website, help out a fellow motorcyclist, and spread the word about RiderToRider.com!!
